Austin Pets Alive! Open House

On September 1 Austin Pets Alive! celebrated their new facilities with a ribbon-cutting ceremony and open-house. The buildings aren’t fully finished yet, but APA! was excited for the community to see what we have been working on.

Several bottle-baby kittens were on hand to greet visitors and spread awareness of our bottle-baby program. Since January 1 over 529 baby kitties have been saved and the new facility gives APA! the oppurtunity to save more.

Dr. Ellen Jefferson, President of Austin Pets Alive and State Representative Eddie Rodriguez were there to perform the formalitites.

Donald is Austin Pets Alive’s Featured Cat this month. He is a sweet and independent 5 year old who enjoys companionship but not too much attention. Donald is showcased on the home page of APA’s website and featured on the APA blog. Princess Zabryna

My title may be that of a “Princess”, but I am not a prissy girl. I am a rough and tumble tomboy who loves to chase and be chased. I am sweet and affectionate, I love other dogs and play well with kids. I love having lots of toys and can entertain myself for a whole hour! or until I fall asleep. My huge ears and paws don’t fit my little body, but don’t worry, I’ll grow into them! I think I’m gonna be a tall girl.

When I came to APA! I had a broken femur. I don’t know what happened but it healed all by itself. My Dr. says I will grow up just fine and shouldn’t have any problems with my leg. It doesn’t hurt and while I may look a little silly it doesn’t bother me. I’m supposed to be resting but I can’t sit still. What can I do? Girls just wanna have fun!

In addition to hosting, By George raffled a $500 gift card and donated a portion of all sales from the evening to APA raising over $3700. In addition to several adorable puppies, Ava was there and so was Isiah who finally got adopted!

Austin Woman Magazine Tiara Tuesday @ Opal Divine’s

Thanks to Austin Woman over $1200 was raised for APA! at this month’s Tiara Tuesday. Dr. Jefferson, the cover girl, was in attendance as well as Lily Kreacher, winner of the cutest pet contest and Benji, featured in the dog-friendly dining guide. Ragamuffin was a hit and Isiah hammed it up for the camera.

Opa! Wine-tasting benefitting APA!

This event benefitted APA!’s Positive Alternatives to Shelter Surrender or PASS Program. This program offers the general public the oppurtunity to help their pets find new homes or to stay in their current homes. APA! offers advice and assistance with solving behavioral or medical issues, and limited assistance with rehoming the pets. The Opa! event raised nearly $800 not including the donations promised by some of the event vendors. In attendance was the oh-so social Ava (upper left) and super sweety Isiah (middle) who is still available for adoption.
