Ranger & Ammo

Ranger, a 4 month old lab, along with big brother Ammo and his parents met me at Butler park for a sweet family shoot. With beautiful downtown Austin in the background and Ranger fresh from puppy obedience class, these boys were so easy to work with. While Ranger did run off once to fraternize with a poodle, forcing mom to give chase, Ammo showed his 8 years of maturity by never leaving dad’s side. We got some amazing family photos and despite all the chaos around us, Ranger and Ammo proved that most dogs will have no trouble focusing when tasty treats are involved.

Austin Pets Alive Town Lake

Last week I visited the Town Lake Animal Shelter for the first time since Austin Pets Alive moved in. Though the renovations are still a work in progress, it was great to walk in and feel the change that had come over that once sad space. I had the pleasure of photographing 17 cats and kittens which was nearly deathly as I am totally allergic, yet I still feel compelled to pet and snuggle every kitty I meet. By the time I left I was itchy and wheezy but I met some really cool cats and I hope they all get adopted soon!

I wanna be your dog II {Austin Event Photography}

The second annual I Wanna Be Your Dog event was bigger and better than last year and I can’t wait to see how much more amazing it will be next year! I had so much fun raising money for my favorite charity, Austin Pets Alive, and I hope to make this event part of my family’s holiday tradition. Big Reds & Bubbles 2011 {Austin event photography}

I had such a great time photographing this year’s Big Reds and Bubbles event at the Driskill hotel. As always the food and drinks were amazing, as well as the Lamarca champagne girl.

Roxie & Gucci {Austin Pet Photography}

These 2 sisters are as different as any sisters are. Both three years old and from the same litter their personalities were immediately visible.  Roxie with the sweetest face wanted nothing to do with me or the treats I had brought. Gucci, a natural model was as excited to see me as I was to see her awesome under-bite. Her cooperation made it easy to wrangle Roxie into participating and it ended up being one of the funnest shoots I’ve ever had. By the end of the morning I was exhausted and they were completely overstuffed with three different types of treats. When I got home their was an email letting me know both girls were happily sleeping and probably would be for the rest of the day. Nice!

Bettina {Austin Pet Photography}

“Making biscuits” in her bed, Bettina caught my eye when I was visiting APA Tarrytown and I couldn’t resist meeting her. Born with a kink in her tail, this sweet kitten is irresistible! Bettina is available for adoption through Austin Pets Alive and can be seen daily at the Tarrytown Adoption Center, click here to learn more about her.

My Paw Portrait and Me

I had the pleasure of meeting Dyanna of My Paw Portrait this past February at Austin Pets Alive’s Sweet Barks events. Dyanna was looking to team up with a photographer she could recommend to her clients. We have since become great friends and when I was asked to decorate the APA Tarrytown adoption center with cat photographs I instantly invited Dyanna to hang her work as well. Dyanna chose several of my images to paint and it has been so awesome to see my photos come to life in a different form. If you have not been to the Tarrytown adoption site at 3808 Windsor you should stop by, not only to check out the art but to also meet the cats and kittens who call this place home.

My Paw Portrait and Angela Lozano Photography now offer package deals where you can book a session with me and receive a painting from Dyanna at about half the cost if you booked us seperately. For more information contact us.

Ruccus & Horton {Austin Pet Photography}

When I first met Ruccus I immediately fell in love with his big white head and spotted ears, he looked so much like my Sugar! Slightly timid at first, Ruccus quickly warmed up to the camera. You would never guess this sweetie pie was already 12 years old, he has the face of a puppy.

Ruccus brought little brother Horton with him, recently adopted from Town Lake, Horton wasn’t ready for his close up, but I insisted! I couldn’t get over his underbite, which is the best I have ever seen.

A special thanks to Alison Eden for letting me use her studio and for her awesome cat noises, of which she has many.
